Windows 7.0 Unveiled!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Windows 7.0 is the next version of Microsoft's Windows Vista.Windows 7 will build on the substantial investments the company has made in the fundamentals with Windows Vista - improving security, reliability and performance while improving security features that people expect. Windows 7 is designed to be compatible with the same hardware, applications, and device drivers as Windows Vista today.

Windows 7 will offer improved navigation, a new taskbar and a streamlined UI so that common tasks done in Windows are done easier and more quickly. You will be able to share data to all your PCs and devices in your home network or at work. With Windows 7 + Windows Live, you will be able to stay connected to the people that matter to you, and with Internet Explorer 8 you will get a faster, safer, more productive Web experience.

Along with Touch Gestures and Device Stage, Windows 7 enables you to get more out of your devices including the ones you use most often like your digital cameras, mobile phones and printers. Windows 7 makes it easier to use networked media devices to play music, watch videos, and display photos that are on your Windows PC.

.NET new logo announced..really cool!!!!!!!

.NET is getting a logo facelift!

This is the all new logo for Microsoft's .NET Framework. It just arrived in my inbox tonight while I was working on the other postings and I decided to see if I could be one of the first ones to talk about it :) Anyway, this is the new logo for Microsoft .NET

and for the horizontally inclined:

Some of you might be asking, as I was, “Why Change?” Here’s a pseudo-quote from the mail I got tonight announcing the new logos

Why change? The original .NET logo was designed just before Forum 2000. It was designed to be attached to other Microsoft brands as a suffix. The result was a logo that did not stand well on its own and lacked impact.

We needed a logo that was in sync with the key values that we want .NET to stand for: consistency, robustness and great user experiences. We also wanted a logo that conformed to the design principles that are driving Microsoft’s brand identity evolution and is reflected in newer brands such as Silverlight, Surface and more. Finally, we needed a logo that is more strongly aligned with the portfolio of brands that .NET is most strongly aligned with: Silverlight, Visual Studio and our server products.

Google G1: A real iPhone challenger!!!!!!!!!

The G1, the first cellphone equipped with Google Inc.'s mobile Android software, will go on sale Wednesday at T-Mobile stores and some electronics stores.

If purchased with a two-year calling plan, the phone will cost $179. The cost jumps to $399 without a plan.

The phone uses a touch screen that can whip through images with the swipe of a finger. It has a full keyboard and can download music, display online maps, play games, store photos, show videos, e-mail, instant message, access GPS and communicate at 3G and Wi-Fi speeds.

In other words, it's a direct competitor to the much loved/hyped iPhone.

Though not nearly as elegant and stylish as Apple Inc.'s iPhone, the G1 is a promising contender.

The Android-equipped phone is better at some tasks than the Apple model. The G1 has a real-world keyboard, as opposed to the iPhone's virtual layout, making it easier to use out of the box. Not to mention more fingernail-friendly.

The G1 multitasks beautifully, and, not surprisingly, it seamlessly integrates Google's search and other applications.

And the G1 battery, unlike the iPhone's, can be replaced by the user without sending the whole phone back to the company.

But the G1 has some growing up to do. And it has a lot of catching up to do with the iPhone -- from the company that gave us the iPod, which remains king when it comes to music and movies.
